Color/Consistency/Aromatic Description: A yellow to reddish oil with a medium viscosity, it has very little, if any, scent.
Description: According to the naturalist Humbolt, buriti means ‘life tree’, as most human necessities could be supplied by its fruit. It grows in swampy areas in the Amazon River basin. An reddish oil is extracted from the fruit pulp, which is very rich in carotenoids (the yield of Vitamin A is 50.000 U.I. p/100g ).
Common Uses: It is generally used at 2% in skin-care formulations such as creams and lotions, bath and body oils, tanning oils and after-sun care.
Absorption Rate: It is absorbed by skin smoothly and quickly, leaving very little oily feeling.
Shelf Life: Store in cool temperatures (below 25 °C) away from light and moisture in an air-tight container. The product will become liquid above ambient temperatures (e.g., 36 °C), but will re-solidify upon cooling without affecting functionality. This butter has a shelf-life of one year when stored properly.
