I may have overstepped here or started something I shouldn’t but sometimes a passionate gal can’t keep it inside day after day.
From a Essential Oil post on what oils are best and replying to all the comments about MLM quality over others:
Sadly, the whole essential oil world has been slightly ruined with MLM companies using fear and sales tactics to up-sell their products as the best. They have monthly meetings, incentives and so on where they “teach” their reps that theirs are superior. Both Young Living and dōTERRA do not have organic certification, why is that ? While I don’t think all oils needs to be certified because pesticides often aren’t found after distillation, why aren’t they choosing organic. I have my feelings.
Both MLM companies are American which takes away your dollars from Canadian small businesses. What is most frustrating is that the small businesses can actually be better becuase they’re not growing and selling in such mass quantities where it’s very likely that pesticide and fertilizer has to be used. Some prefer their plants where they’re originally from; tea tree from Australia, lavender from France because that’s its native soil.
To sell your product as safe for ingestion is also not wise as not all oils should be ingested and most people don’t know how to properly ingest oils therefore shouldn’t without a trained aromatherapist from a quality school. (Not a weekend course)
Plants, trees, flowers and bark are not that complicated so why would one company be so superior to another? Is your garden superior to your neighbours or just different?
Do plants and flowers have good and poor seasons? Yes they do. Essential oils are plants and it’s not rocket science and need not be feared. The only concern is to make sure you differentiate between fragrance and essential oils. To buy oils off sites where they can’t provide county of origin or distillation method isn’t smart.
To say that certain companies have doctors and scientists working with them isn’t all that amazing since the large companies employ them generally for a good salary. Small companies have local doctors referring patients for certain blends too.
It’s hard as a small business to have to deal with this type of hype day after day when it’s such an amazing way to heal and doesn’t need to be this way. I don’t mind Young Living or dōTERRA oils and blends from the few times I’ve been around them. Saje is a great Canadian company as well.
Don’t fear oils. It doesn’t need to be a competition and you don’t need to pay insane amounts. Frankincense 10 ml shouldn’t be more than $35. Lemon shouldn’t be more than $20. TRUST ME.
I truly believe the reps love oils and are promoting something their passionate about but the law of attraction will always be. You can’t sell based on false info or by hurting another. It’ll never prosper and those who just sell and are honest will be successful.
